Relief Engravings
The images of my relief engravings aren't as high quality as I would like so further documentation will be coming shortly.
I selected to carve my reliefs on high impact polystyrene using traditional metal engraving tools called burins. All carved lines directly and reliably record my decisions, intent, feelings and neuromuscular control at the instant they are produced upon the plate. My landscapes are interpretations of the world I see around me. The lines reveal personality and result from my visual-expressive responses to a subject or feeling. I work figuratively in my engravings as a means to express my emotional state as I incorporate repetition and geometric details. I envision a journey through the surreal sequences of my prints, where I feel shapes and lines as life energy flowing through space, at times forming recognizable objects, other times, shapes and stylized figures.
